Pearl (珍珠) 2018

In a small fishing village in southeastern China in 1970s, six-year-old Lin. raised by a widowed mother, not only does toil with house work, but also struggles to make money to support her 8-year-old brother’s education. One day, her brother brings her surprising news: their mother has met a man who wants to relocate them to a place called Taiwan. Lin, thrilled that her dream of leaving the small village is about to come true, tosses and turns through a long sleepless night. But the next day, Lin wakes to an empty house, only to realize that she has been left behind.

Days before the College Entrance Exam, high school teacher Chen is informed that his best student’s father was killed in a mining accident. Thinking for the student’s future, as well as pressured by the school principle and his family, Chen struggles whether he should tell the student about this news.

高考前夕,高三年级班主任陈军正带领他的班级进行紧张的备考。陈军在监考模拟考试期间接到学校通知,他班中尖子生李仁明的姐姐闯入这所全封闭式的学校,想要接李仁明回家。在与李仁明姐姐的交谈中,陈军得知李仁明的父亲在前一日因矿难去世。为了学生的未来、学校的利益,面对学校、家庭和李仁明家人的压力,陈军不得不做出决定隐瞒李仁明父亲去世的消息。
